Wishing You A Felty New Year!

Where did 2024 go?!! We are just a few days from welcoming the start of 2025 and what promises to be a fabulous year for Southern Hemisphere felters. I hope you are as excited as we are?!! 🙂

I like to think of the Felter’s Convergence Committee as a swan, on the surface gracefully gliding effortlessly towards September 2025 while under the surface there is a LOT of activity! This update is a sneak peek into some of what has been happening behind the scenes….

Keeping the budget under control:

We are keen to make Convergence as affordable as we possibly can. High inflation over the last 2 years has made everything so much more expensive making us all the more grateful to Margaret Joppa and Jenny Forrester for their efforts to secure external funding for Convergence.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors for supporting Felt Connect:

The New Zealand Felters (discontinued group)

Auckland Creative Fibre

And generous support from:

If you know of any other potential funding sources for creative or community events please let us know!

Registration will open in February:

We are diligently working on the registration form which will be an online form and all being well, it will go live in early February.

A notification will be sent to everyone who has signed up to receive email updates about Convergence. If you are reading this from your inbox, you are all set. If not, you can sign up to receive email alerts here, please check your spam folder if you don’t recieve a “confirm your email” message. This confirmation is needed before we can send you updates.

More information about Nancy Ballesteros‘s classes:

At our first meeting with Nancy she very generously suggested lots of different options for her sessions, so many we could have easily filled several weeks! After much thought and discussion we have decided on these courses which will have great value for everyone.

The Art of Drape – How to achieve well fulled but still drape-able felt

Colour Theory for fibre fanatics

Natural Rhythms / applying Fibonacci principles to felt while working with WET wool

Hanky Panky – Playing with Silk Hankies

Opportunity for Post Convergence Classes with Nancy

Nancy is keen to conduct a teaching tour of New Zealand after Convergence, while we will be making A4 samples with Nancy throughout Convergence you might have a bigger project in mind which can extend your knowledge on the subjects she went over at Convergence or you might want to learn another completely different technique with her.

This is an incredible opportunity for small groups to host an international tutor without the expense of international flights (your group will just need to cover a share of Nancy’s domestic travel, billeting and tutoring fee).

If you would like to explore this opportunity further please reach out to Nancy directly. Please email her at: nancy@treetopscolours.com.au.  You can view more information about her workshops at this link: www.treetopscolours.com.au

Wishing you a fabulous felty new year!
