Who’s Teaching?

This year we are delighted to have two fabulous professional international tutors provide the core program with volunteer tutor’s offering sessions as well.

Nancy Ballesteros from Australia will be providing three wonderful days of learning and we will have a morning Zoom class with Katia Mokeyeva from the US, followed by a session ‘making a sample’ in the afternoon.

Nancy’s classes:

The Art of Drape – How to achieve well fulled but still drape-able felt.

Colour Theory and Natural Rhythms – We will learn about combining colours and applying Fibonacci principles (no maths needed!) to felt and how they will help you create designs that look both natural and balanced.

Hanky Panky – Playing with Silk Hankies. Silk Hankies possess unique properties which create gloriously lustrous and textural surfaces when laminated with minimal amounts of superfine merino and silk fabric. We will explore creating a variety of different visual effects with the hankies. Finishing techniques will be discussed to ensure proper quality felt.

Katia’s class:

We will be learning to use her signature technique to make Sea Waves.

Volunteer Tutors:

A wonderful tradition of Convergence is the short sessions offered by many volunteer tutors. Each volunteer tutor will share something interesting to make, a technique or skill related to feltmaking. Sharing knowledge and ideas is a special aspect of our Felting Convergences and one we value hugely and all appreciate.

More information about the volunteer tutor sessions will be shared as the program is finalised.

It will be busy and lots of fun!

*While every reasonable effort will be made to provide the advertised program of teaching, the Convergence organising committee reserve the right to substitute tutors or topics if needed.
